Holiday Shopping Begins

Went to Franklin Mills yesterday to fill our closets, which has been depleted due to our recent weight loss - mine was planned, and his was completely inadvertent. He came back with a formidable haul, while I only scored a winter coat and a denim jacket.

We also got started on some of our Christmas shopping, and we have an idea as to what to give for most of his family. My family is a bit more difficult (in many many ways), and I don't know what to do with me friends. I think they're quasi-dieting so it takes away my favorite gift category ... all things yummy.

Trying to get psyched about my 15+ (maybe 16) miles today, and I'm feeling nervous. I think I should get another meal in before heading out - being hungry a one hour and fourty-five minutes into a solid two and a half hour workout (or longer) is not pleasant.

******

16.32 miles completed in 2:52:26 ... average pace at 10:33 minutes per mile. About 8 minutes more and Lance finished just about 10 more miles. One day, I will average 7:30 minute miles at 75% my maximum heart rate. It will take a year or two, but it WILL happen.

I have to say that today's run was a lot easier than last Sunday's. I went for longer, and it didn't feel like death. I think the absence of tornado-like wind conditions, and last night's super huge bowl of whole wheat spaghetti with meatballs from Village Pizza (1075 Easton Ave in Somerset) helped out ... just a bit.

So between resting up the week before, and carb and electrolyte loading the night before, I think I can cover 26.2 miles. Say a prayer, keep your fingers crossed ... and send out the spirits of stamina for me ... on December 3rd ... at 6:30 AM. It's less than a month away ... eek.

And I am enjoying an Allagash Four and waiting for our dinner to cool enough.

It is quite tasty so I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

I posted a comment yesterday which has disappeared, or so it seems.

But in any case I enjoyed getting dressed this morning, thanks to our Saturday afternoon excursion.
