Odds and Ends

Odd ...

I think I'm distracting myself with a new temporary obsession for a pink running outfit to match my partially pink running shoes. Instead of stressing about finishing 26.2 miles, which will require four hours or so of perpetual high impact motion, I'm entirely focused on get some pink and black running outfit appropriate for running in Palm Beach at 6:30 AM on a course that's mostly along the shore. Not only will the outfit by thermally appropriate, but it will also be the exact shade of pink to match that of the shoes.

Silly, trivial, could be a smidge expensive for what it's worth ... but it's totally working. My subconscious kicks so much ass.

End ...

I came across this line yesterday in a memoir I'm currently reading (The Tender Bar by J.R. Moehringer) and thought the following insightful and beautiful:

I considered quoting Whitman. I want to "lean and loaf at my ease observing a spear of summer grass." But my mother didn't give a damn about Whitman and she would find my song of myself off key.

She would find my song of myself off key. What a great line.

So VERY VERY Odd

A co-worker came up to my office area looking for my neighbor / boss and discovered that he / her husband wasn't there. So we started chatting and she went off about wanting to go home, and I agreed, but the more difficult part is not reading my book. She took a look at it and get this ... SHE KNOWS THE CAST. She grew up in Manhasset and went to Publicans all the time. It's almost like she knows famous people.
